Silver Street

In keeping with the company's policy of developing brownfield sites a small area of land was purchased adjacent to the Bishop's Palace in Bishop Auckland Market Place. The proposed development in this area will include two town houses and eight apartments.

The apartments are to be built in a style to match the existing Kings Lodge which dates to the 17th Century and the whole development to be sympathetic to historic conservation area in which it is located.

The land was purchased from Liddle Prestridge Hare Limited a company in which one Carlbury Director was previously involved and this development is to be the final phase of a project commenced by Liddle Prestridge Hare Limited. This earlier project involved the extensive rennovation and conversion of the grade II listed building in the Market Place known as the Elms and the construction within its grounds (in close proximity to the Grade I listed Bishops Palace) of 18 flats.

This development has recently been awarded the annual prize for conservation by Bishop Auckland Civic Society in recognition of its important contribution to the conservation and improvement of an area which has suffered severe neglect in recent years.
